It’s no secret that Baton Rouge is a food lover’s dream city. The strong French influence fused with Southern seafood and spice is something people are willing to travel cross-country for. Tourists in Baton Rouge who have never had a po’boy or a crawfish étouffée in their life might walk right past the local pizza restaurants, thinking only about their first mouthwatering taste of Creole cuisine. Locals, on the other hand, know that the best pizza restaurants in Baton Rouge are just as worthy of praise as anything else.

Red Zeppelin Pizza

Red Zeppelin Pizza is a laid-back pizza restaurant and bar with a rock-and-roll atmosphere and excellent man-cave décor. From the moment you walk through the flaming archway, you’ll understand why locals feel like the large outdoor patio is their weekend home. Red Zeppelin’s menu of specialty pizzas has been called “hands-down the best pizza in town” by locals. The menu is also thick with signature calzones and po’boys.

Lit Pizza

Do you want a fast pizza that is not fast-food? Lit Pizza “blast fires” all of its pizzas, which means that the chefs place each custom pie into an oven that is heated over 800 degrees Fahrenheit. The result of this brief trip to the inferno is a perfectly crispy crust that can get out of the oven and into your mouth in just a few minutes. You can build your own pizza or try one of Lit’s signature creations like the “Localite,” which is a Cajun-inspired spicy creation.

Schlittz and Giggles

With two locations in downtown Baton Rouge and the Perkins Rowe shopping district, Schlittz and Giggles is as puckish as its name suggests. The restaurant has a laid-back, college bar atmosphere, and the menu features a pizza called “Kitchen Floor” that is actually delicious. Locals come here for the signature “Italian Nachos,” and no meal is complete without some sugar-loving “Cinna-Knots” for desert.

Fleur de Lis Cocktail Lounge

A family-owned restaurant since 1946, the Fleur de Lis is an unassuming slice of Americana that quietly makes some of Baton Rouge’s most delicious Roman-style pizza. Four generations have continued to serve up grandma’s signature square-shaped pizza. You’ll know you’re at the right place when you see the unique pink building and vintage signs. When you come inside, the old-school vibe will make you feel like you took a trip back in time.

Reginelli’s Pizzeria

If you don’t know what Detroit-style pizza is yet, you can’t call yourself a true pizza lover, and you need to go to Reginelli’s. Pizza á la Motor City is a rectangular, super-cheesy pie that is served on a thick focaccia-like crust. The menu at Reginelli’s Pizzeria is also packed with delicious sandwiches, salads, and appetizers that can satisfy those annoying people who don’t want pizza. The BBQ Shrimp and Ciabatta Toast is a local favorite.
